I’ve frequently observed how working with one medium invariably influences the use of another. In the past few months of doing mostly water colours, this habit of working has found its way into my subconscious. While working on creating florals with water colours, I noticed a set of alcohol inks lying on the shelf. They were a gift I received a while ago and hadn’t used.
My usual modus-operandi with a new medium is to just plunge in, try the medium, create something, and then follow the questions I have. I have had so much fun playing with the inks and am still intrigued by the intensity and vibrancy of the colours.
And then I discovered Yupo paper! I love the way the inks move on the smooth surface of the paper, the fluidity, the layers created and the fact that it is not in my control!! Clearly, I am struggling at the moment and it is not coming together yet. So, I guess I shall go with the flow and stop struggling and it will reveal itself when the time is right.
Isn’t that what life is about?
Have a creative day!
